 Based on a true story, the movie involves a lesbian couple yearning for a family of their own. Janine Nielsen (Brooke Shields) and her partner, Sandy Cataldi (Cherry Jones), elect to have a baby via artificial insemination with Sandy as the biological mother. Janine believes she has finally found happiness, now that she and her lesbian partner (Cherry Jones) have a child. But when Jones passes away five years later and her scheming parents apply for custody behind Shields' back, an affecting struggle ensues.

استنادا الى قصة حقيقية ، جانين نيلسن (بروك شيلدز) وشريكها ، ساندي كاتالدي (شيري جونز) يقوما بانجاب  طفل عن طريق التلقيح الاصطناعي، ساندي هى الأم البيولوجية. جانين تعتقد انها  وجدت السعادة ، ولكن سعادتها لا تستمر. حبيبتها تصاب بمرض خطير يودي بحياتها. وتجد نفسها في معركة للاحتفاظ بطفلتها مع والدي ساندي المصممين على الاحتفاظ بالطفلة.

The church, with the tacit approval of Eleanor's husband, William, is cracking down on folk festivities and on the curative work of an aging midwife. Eleanor, with a new-found friend and servant woman, Gwenyth, who is the midwife's understudy, tries to save the woman from execution. Suspicion falls on the young women, and Gwenyth is in danger. Eleanor also finds herself pregnant, but fears childbirth and the life that awaits her baby. Does Eleanor have any choices?

Maggie is a young college drop-out who is working in a lesbian bookstore in Vancouver. She meets and falls for Kim, and her life seems to be stable. ترعرت سوزان في بيت للصوص في لندن. احد اصدقاء "العائلة" يقوم بوضع خطة للاحتيال على شابة يتيمة (اسمها مود) ورثت مالا كثيرا من والديها وتعيش مع عمها.  سوزان تشترك في الخطة وتمثل دور خادمة حتى تتامر على مود وتقنعها بالزواج من صديقها المحتال. وبعد ذلك كانوا  يخططون  لوضعها في مستشفى الامراض العقلية! ولكن الكثير يتغير عندما تقع سوزان في حب مود. المفاجأت كتيرة. قصة رائعة عن الحب والطمع والخيانة وما يمكن ان يفعل الانسان في سبيل  المال او في من أجل حريته.
